Digital Legacy Planning Workshop

October 24 @ 11:00 am – 12:30 pm

Sat. 24 Oct 2026, 11:00 – 12:30

Protect your digital life.
Make things easier for the people you leave behind.
Most people understand the importance of having a valid will, appointing powers of attorney, and organising their estate.
But have you considered your digital legacy?
Today, our lives are stored across computers, smartphones, tablets, cloud storage, online banking, social media, email, subscriptions, photographs, business records, and countless online accounts.
Without a digital legacy plan, your loved ones may struggle to:
– Access important documents and financial information.
– Locate treasured family photographs and memories.
– Manage or close online accounts and subscriptions.
– Protect your identity from fraud or misuse.
– Understand what should be kept, transferred, or deleted.

Why Digital Legacy Planning Matters
Digital assets often have financial, legal, sentimental, and practical value. Unlike physical possessions, they can be difficult — or even impossible — for family members or executors to access without the right information.
Planning ahead can:
– Reduce stress and confusion for your executor.
– Save time and unnecessary expense.
– Protect your privacy and personal information.
– Ensure valuable digital assets are preserved.
– Help your loved ones carry out your wishes.

What Does a Digital Legacy Plan Include?
A good digital legacy plan identifies:
– Your digital devices and where they are located.
– Important online accounts and services.
– Password management arrangements.
– Digital files and photographs.
– Software licences and subscriptions.
– Instructions for social media, email, and cloud storage.
– Guidance for your executor on what should happen to your digital assets.

What happens to your digital life when you’re no longer here?
Join us for a practical and informative workshop exploring the importance of planning for your digital legacy and ensuring your wishes can be carried out.

In this workshop, we will cover:
– Why every adult should have a Digital Legacy Plan.
– The steps involved in creating your own Digital Legacy Plan.
– What constitutes your digital legacy, where it exists, and what can be done with it.
– How to improve the likelihood that your digital assets will be managed according to your wishes.

Who should attend?
This workshop is free and open to everyone. Whether you’re just beginning your estate planning or looking to update your existing arrangements, all are welcome.

After the Workshop
Lunch and an informal discussion will follow the presentation, providing an opportunity to ask questions and share ideas.

Please register with the Parish Secretary so that we can cater appropriately for lunch.

What to Bring
You are welcome to:
– Bring your own laptop or tablet, or
– Use one of the class laptops provided, or
– Simply follow along using the printed materials.

Each participant will receive a comprehensive set of printed learner notes to take home.
